Juniors

Junior members are welcome at DVPC as they represent the future of our sport. The current laws in Victoria allow children who are a minimum of 12 years of age to handle and operate a firearm, obtain a Junior Category Firearms Licence, and to participate in shooting competitions. Junior shooters must have the written consent of a parent/guardian to participate, and they must have a parent/guardian as a member of the Club who also holds a licence and who is responsible for transporting and storing the firearm/s on behalf of the junior member. Although qualified Range Officers will be in charge of the range, junior shooters are still required to have a parent/guardian present supervising them at all times.

For parents/guardians who are not interested in taking part in pistol shooting, they can apply for a special licence that purely allows them to have a registered firearm that they store and transport to and from the club on behalf of the junior. This licence, however, will not allow the parent/guardian to operate the firearm, or participate in shooting of any kind unless under direct supervision of a fully licensed shooter/member.
